RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.--The Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster (RTCC) has tapped economic development policy analyst Christa Wagner Vinson to serve as marketing and membership manager. Wagner Vinson is responsible for development and implementation of a brand and marketing campaign to promote the cluster globally and for recruiting and mobilizing partners and funders to accelerate the cluster’s growth. “Christa brings key experience and great passion promoting economic growth through energy innovation and policy,” said RTCC managing director Lee Anne Nance. “She knows the players, needs and opportunities the cleantech cluster holds for our region and can hit the ground running to help us gain global prominence in this important emerging industry.”
Wagner Vinson most recently served as a policy analyst for the N.C. Department of Commerce’s Labor and Economic Analysis Division, specializing in research and analysis of cleantech, energy and the environment in economic development strategy.
Previously, she worked as a research associate for SJF Institute in Durham, a leading technical assistance provider to local entrepreneurs in the cleantech and impact-investing spaces and affiliate of cleantech venture fund SJF Ventures. She was a graduate researcher for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Center for Competitive Economies and Institute for the Environment and director of governmental relations for a national nonprofit.
Wagner Vinson holds a master’s degree in city and regional planning with an economic development specialization from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Davidson College.
Cleantech is one of 11 clusters targeted for business development by the Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP), which leads economic development strategy for the 13-county Research Triangle Region of North Carolina and formed the RTCC. The region’s cleantech cluster includes more than 500 companies, a critical mass of researchers and a host of support organizations, particularly in the areas of smart grid, advanced transportation, water technologies, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
