East Carolina Sues Cisco Over Registered Trademark

GREENVILLE, N.C.--East Carolina University has filed a lawsuit in federal court against Cisco Systems, Inc., seeking injunctive relief and damages for the unauthorized use of ECU’s federally registered trademark “Tomorrow Starts Here.” “ECU has used the mark ‘Tomorrow Starts Here’ for over a decade, including in national advertisements and publications such as Forbes and Wired,” said Chancellor Steve Ballard. “We feel it is essential to take action to protect that defining trademark of our identity and vision.”

Heptares Partners with Cubist to Research New Medicines Targeting GPCRs

WELWYN GARDEN CITY, ENGLAND & BOSTON, MASS.--Heptares Therapeutics, the leading GPCR drug discovery and development company, today announced they have signed an agreement with Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: CBST) to collaborate on the research and discovery of new medicines targeting G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are membrane proteins involved in a broad range of biological processes and diseases. Under the terms of the agreement, Cubist will receive exclusive worldwide rights to research, develop and commercialize products generated from the collaboration. The collaborative research will focus on up to two GPCR drug targets to be selected by Cubist. For the first target, Heptares will receive $5.5 million (USD) upfront and up to approximately $4 million in research funding plus milestones and royalties. Cubist also has the option to nominate a second GPCR target at a later point in the collaboration, which Heptares has agreed to work on according to pre-determined financials. Further terms of the agreement are not disclosed.

Agilent Technologies Introduces High-Definition Oscilloscopes

SANTA CLARA, CALIF.--Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced Infiniium 9000 H-Series high-definition oscilloscopes. The four new models come in bandwidths of 250 MHz, 500 MHz, 1 GHz and 2 GHz. They offer up to 12-bit vertical resolution, which represents 16 times the quantization levels of traditional oscilloscopes with 8 bits of resolution. BioLineRx to Announce Interim Results of Phase II/III Trial for Schizophrenia Drug During Week of March 18, 2013

JERUSALEM--BioLineRx (NASDAQ: BLRX) (TASE: BLRX), a biopharmaceutical development company, announced today that the results of the interim analysis of the Phase II/III CLARITY trial of BL-1020, a first in class, orally available, GABA-enhanced antipsychotic for the treatment of schizophrenia, are expected during the week beginning March 18, 2013. The interim analysis will be performed on data of approximately 235 randomized patients from 27 sites in Romania and India. The primary endpoint of the analysis will be the six-week effect of the drug on cognitive function, which is a principal deficit in schizophrenia patients.
